Build a Dynamic Datacenter with VMware Infrastructure
VMware ESXi enables single-server partitioning and forms the foundation for a virtualized datacenter. With VMware Infrastructure 3, customers can build upon this base virtualization platform for continuous application availability, maximum operational efficiency and infrastructure security. VMware Infrastructure is the most widely deployed virtual infrastructure suite that comes in three editions: Foundation, Standard, and Enterprise, offering customers:
- Centralized management of virtual machines and their physical hosts
- Complete access to the Remote Command Line Interface commands
- Rapid provisioning from pre-built templates to deploy virtual machines in minutes
- Live migration of virtual machines between physical servers with no downtime
- Dynamic load balancing of virtual machines to guarantee service levels
- Automatic restart of virtual machines in case of physical server faults for high availability
Customers can obtain VMware ESXi free of charge and later seamlessly upgrade to VMware Infrastructure. Alternatively, customers can purchase VMware Infrastructure 3 and deploy ESXi as part of the suite.
How to Buy VMware Infrastructure 3
The rich capabilities of VMware Infrastructure 3 are packaged into three editions to fit the needs and budget of any organization: Foundation, Standard and Enterprise. Each edition includes a hypervisor as well as a set of management capabilities. Customers can choose to deploy either VMware ESX or VMware ESXi. VMware Infrastructure 3 is available in English, German, Simplified Chinese and Japanese.
1 These products require VirtualCenter Server (previously VirtualCenter Management Server). VMware VirtualCenter provides centralized management for VMware Infrastructure so you can manage and administer your entire virtual environment from a single console. Although a VMware VirtualCenter agent is included in every VMware Infrastructure license, one instance of the VirtualCenter Server is required to enable the central management capabilities of VMware Infrastructure.
2 Managing VMware ESXi with VMware VirtualCenter requires the addition of a VMware VirtualCenter Server Agent available in VMware Infrastructure 3 Foundation, Standard, or Enterprise editions.
3 Requires purchase of Support and Subscription (SnS)
