VMware and Novell

Overview

VMware and Novell work jointly to certify and support NetWare running in VMware virtual machines. In the past, these efforts were focused around VMware Workstation and VMware GSX Server products. With the unveiling of VMware ESX Server 2.0.1 later this year, NetWare certification will now be available on VMware ESX.

VMware software allows Novell customers to efficiently develop, test, and deploy multiple operating systems on industry-standard architecture hardware in applications for the entire enterprise -- from desktop to server.

Novell customers are thus able to consolidate their underutilized Netware servers on to fewer physical servers, saving real costs in IT staff time, floor space, rack space, and power consumption - not to mention management. Customers are also able to run different version of Netware and Linux side by side to facilitate upgrading to the latest Novell technology without losing benefits of already established infrastructure and legacy applications.

SUSE LINUX and VMware work jointly to certify and support SUSE LINUX running in VMware virtual machines both as a guest and host operating system. VMware products are developed to run with SUSE LINUX operating systems.
