Overview

A charter member of the VMware Virtual Desktop Infrastructure alliance, Provision Networks is at the forefront of the VDI revolution, and is uniquely positioned in this space with a set of last-mile technologies which turn the hosted virtual desktop into reality.

Leveraging a decade of experience in hosted terminal services solutions, Provision Networks became keenly familiar with the obstacles to adoption of a hosted desktop solution, and developed the Virtual Access Suite to blur the user experience between physical and virtual desktops.

The Provision Networks Virtual Access Suite for VMware VDI is a complete enterprise solution meant to be the only set of building blocks needed for a comprehensive VDI implementation.

Value Prop/Benefits

The benefits of a Provision Networks VAS-enabled Virtual Desktop Infrastructure are numerous. They include:

Centralized Management: Corporate desktops adhering to the organization standards are "always-on" and easily managed from a central location.
Total Access: Consistent and reliable access to full desktops or hosted applications is securely achieved and maintained through a centrally-managed "always-on" infrastructure.
Resource Optimization: Eliminate the proliferation of high-powered, less-utilized PCs by hosting desktops in Virtual Machines on shared servers and dynamically manage resources across VMs.
Environment Isolation: User environments are each contained in their own VM, eliminating any issues with applications that are not multi-user aware, while ensuring strict security.
Service Orientation: Deliver the highest service levels and SLAs to users with instant provisioning, recovery, and issue resolution, while maintaining a personalized experience.

Solutions

The Provision Networks Virtual Access Suite includes:

Virtual Access Broker: Highly scalable service responsible for VM pool management, status monitoring, fault management, policy enforcement, and client connectivity arbitration - fully integrated with VMware VirtualCenter.
Access Infrastructure: Sophisticated access portal including the Web interface and SSL gateway, enabling any PC or thin client to securely connect and access a VAS-enabled Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.
Enhanced End-User Experience and Last-Mile Features: Full-desktop and application publishing, seamless windows, up to 4096X2048 screen resolutions, multi-monitor support, single sign-on, smartcard authentication, USB handheld redirection, user profile management, session configuration and lockdown, and a universal print driver.
End-Point Computing: On-demand access to VDI-based published desktops and applications using a Web browser or the AppPortal client, including the AppPortal desktop-integrated mode in which application shortcuts are automatically propagated to the user's local desktop.

"The VMware VDI initiative has been widely received as a paradigm shift in the way desktops and applications are provisioned, deployed and accessed. Our Virtual Access Suite brings to market a complete enterprise solution meant to be the only set of VDI building blocks needed to transform the hosted desktop into enterprise reality."
