When and where will the VMworld 2008 take place?

VMworld 2008 will take place September 15 - 18, 2008 at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, NV.

What is the registration fee for the event?

Early Bird: $1,495 (until July 11, 2008)

Regular: $1,745 (July 12 to September 13, 2008)

On Site: $1,895

Is there a registration discount if I attended a previous VMworld?

You are recognized as a VMworld alumnus if you have attended at least two out of the last five conferences. You will receive this discount automatically if you register with the email address you used for your last VMworld registration. The VMworld Alumni rate is $1,395.

Are there registration discounts for university students and faculty members?

Yes, the discounted student and faculty rate is $1,095, regardless of the time that you register. This pricing is provided automatically if you register with a valid “.edu” email address. Do you offer discounts for government attendees?

Yes, the discounted Government rate is $1,375, regardless of the time that you register. This pricing is provided automatically if you register with a valid “.gov” or “.mil” email address. If you do not have such an email address but feel that the government rate should apply to you, please contact the VMworld Registration Team at 800-365-2459 (USA and Canada only) or +1-203-851-7802 (International), or via email.

Are group discounts available?

You can receive a discounted rate for groups of three individuals or more from the same company, using one credit card or PO in a single transaction. Select this option on the payment page. Simply enter the number of people attending to receive a unique registration code for the individual registrations. This is a single code valid for the number of people that have been selected, and this code should be distributed to the respective individuals for registration. The purchaser may choose to be one of the registrants. Please note that if payment by PO or check is selected, the registration cannot be confirmed until payment is received.

Group Discount Early Bird: $1,345 (Valid until July 11, 2008)

Group Discount Regular: $1,595 (Valid from July 12 to September 13, 2008. Group registrations are not available on-site.)

Can I pay for my registration using a check or purchase order?

Yes, you can pay for the conference fees by check or PO. You can print an invoice for your transaction from the registration confirmation page. However, your registration cannot be confirmed until the conference fee has been paid in full. Please note that you will have to submit credit card information to hold your hotel room reservation.

Are One Day Passes available?

Yes, One Day passes at a price of $700 are available for Tuesday, September 16 through Thursday, September 18. One Day pass holders will be able to attend all VMworld functions, including meals and evening events for that day.

What if I have questions about the VMworld 2008 event or my registration?

When will I receive confirmation of my registration?

An email acknowledgment of your conference registration will be sent to you after you register. You will receive final confirmation, including your hotel reservation, approximately four weeks prior to the conference date.

What if I need to cancel my conference registration and/or hotel reservation?

Until August 19, 2008, you can log into your account to update your hotel reservation. After August 19, 2008 you must contact the hotel directly no later than 3 days prior to your scheduled arrival to make changes to your hotel reservation. Your deposit will not be refunded if you cancel less then 3 days prior to your scheduled arrival date.

To cancel your conference participation:

All cancellations must be received in writing. Email your cancellation notice.

Full Refund – Cancellation must be received by close of business on July 11, 2008

50% Refund – Cancellations received between July 12, 2008 and close of business August 8, 2008.

No refunds will be given after August 9, 2008

Are substitutions allowed and is there a related fee?

Substitution requests must be received via email from the original attendee requesting a cancellation of his/her registration, and include the name of the person who will be taking his/her place. Please indicate whether or not payment is to be transferred to the new registrant. There is no fee for substitutions. Can I edit my registration information once it has been submitted?

Yes, you can edit your registration information. You will need the User Name and Password you created to sign-in. You can then edit your personal profile and make changes to your hotel reservations. The registration team will handle substitution requests directly.

Do I need to wear my badge during the entire VMworld 2008 event?

Please wear your conference badge to all functions, sessions and meetings so that we can readily identify you as an attendee of the VMworld 2008 event.

Every precaution possible is being taken to ensure a safe and secure working environment at the VMworld 2008 event. As such, please be aware that we will be asking for valid photo identification at registration before releasing a conference badge.

Are guests permitted to attend?

Attendees are permitted to register one guest, 21 years of age or older. Registered guests are permitted to attend the VMworld Welcome Reception on Monday, September 15, and the VMworld party on Wednesday, September 17. The guest pass fee is $275. The guest pass does not include access to breakout sessions, general sessions, labs, breakfast, lunch or any other activities that are reserved for attendees with full conference passes.

What sessions are available during the event?

On the morning of Tuesday, September 16 through Thursday, September 18, there will be general sessions for all attendees. These will be followed by in depth breakout sessions and hands-on labs. See our Agenda for more information.

How can I enroll in the breakout sessions and hands-on labs?

Enrollment in breakout sessions and hands-on labs is required. All registered attendees will receive information via email on how to build a personal schedule in mid-August.

Please note that attendees can enroll in a maximum of four labs during the conference.

What is the recommended attire for VMworld attendees?

Business casual attire is appropriate for attending general and breakout sessions. For the VMworld party, casual attire is recommended. Bring a sweater or jacket, as session rooms at the Convention Center can be cool.

Can I get copies of the material presented at the conference?

The presentations will be posted immediately after VMworld 2008 on this web site.

What is the common language spoken at VMworld 2008?

The official language of the conference is English, and all general sessions will be presented in English.

Internet stations will be located throughout the conference facilities.

Will additional classes be offered before and after the conference?

VMware Educational Services is offering classes before and after the VMworld Conference at a local Education Center. Classes include:

Yes, you may register on behalf of another person, as long as all information is completed. Please make sure you have full contact details and credit card information before entering the registration process.
