Network Storage Server (NSS) Virtual Appliance for VMware Infrastructure

FalconStor® Network Storage Server (NSS) Virtual Appliance for VMware Infrastructure is a pre-configured, production-ready virtual machine that provides a cost-effective, feature-rich virtual SAN solution for small and medium businesses and remote/branch offices.

FalconStor® Network Storage Server (NSS) Virtual Appliance for VMware Infrastructure is a pre-configured, production-ready virtual machine that provides a cost-effective, feature-rich virtual SAN solution for small and medium businesses and remote/branch offices.

The FalconStor NSS Virtual Appliance creates a virtual SAN on a VMware ESX server by turning internal disk resources into a shareable pool of storage. This is accomplished without the need for external storage arrays, SAN switches, or costly host bus adapters (HBA). Internal data drives are detected by the software and incorporated into the FalconStor NSS management through a simple GUI. At that point, storage can be provisioned and securely allocated via the iSCSI protocol which operates over standard Ethernet cabling.

If the FalconStor NSS Virtual Appliance is deployed on a single VMware ESX server, that server can share storage resources with other servers in the environment. By consolidating all the elements of a shared storage environment into a single server, the FalconStor NSS Virtual Appliance provides a cost-effective solution for delivering highly available shared storage to a VMware ESX Server environment. Thin Provisioning technology and space-efficient snapshots further decrease costs by minimizing consumption of physical storage resources.

To enable high availability (HA), the FalconStor NSS Virtual Appliance can be deployed on two VMware ESX servers that can share storage with each other as well as additional VMware ESX servers. In this model, each NSS Virtual Appliance maintains mirrored data from the other server. If one of the servers is lost, all virtual machines that were running on the failed server can restart using the storage resources of the remaining server. Downtime is kept to a minimum as applications are quickly brought back online.

The Catbird V-Agent™ provides a full spectrum of security services in physical and virtual environments. The Catbird V-Agent can monitor virtual segments within a host as well as physical network segments connected to the host. The Catbird V-Agent delivers the operational flexibility that is a hallmark of virtual infrastructure. Unlike traditional host-based security solutions, stateful appliances and proprietary hardware solutions, Catbird's unique stateless "in-the-cloud" architecture is 100% plug-and-play for virtualized environments. Security data is maintained even as V-Agents are shutdown or redeployed. As a stateless agent running as a guest on the virtual infrastructure, V-Agents are simpler and less costly to deploy and manage than traditional security solutions yet provide comprehensive hacker protection inside and outside the virtual network.

Also see included README.EN.txt and Catbird_V-Agent_Evaluation_Guide.pdf

Some of the details a downloader might need are included in Catbird_V-Agent_Evaluation_Guide.pdf

For more information, please visit: http://www.catbird.com/vagent

VKernel -- World's first VMware certified virtual appliance for Capacity and Chargeback

Like an electric meter in your home, VKernel meters VMware ESX Server resources and tells you how much and who is using your ESX Server resources (CPU, Storage, Memory, and Network) by resource pools, department, application, cluster, farm, etc. VKernel also generates invoices (chargeback) to bill your internal or external clients for the actual resources they use.

- Understand total resource consumption by groups of VMs that support business applications such EMail, CRM, folders, resource pools, and clusters.

Simply import this appliance into one of you ESX Server systems and specify which ESX Server systems you want to report on. That´s it! Free Download available.

In this shared environment it is tough to figure out what departments and applications are using the shared resources (CPU, Memory, Storage, Network). It is even tougher to figure out how to chargeback for them to various internal departments and external clients. VKernel makes this easy.

See sample reports at http://www.vkernel.com/resourcecenter/samplereports/

Click and out come reports that show how much resource (CPU, Storage, RAM, and network) your VMs are consuming. A few more clicks and now you can understand resource consumption by critical business application such as email, CRM and other systems.
Once you associate clients with business applications by drag and drop operations you can get charge back reports that are based on actual resource consumption, not some artificially created chargeback numbers.
It is that easy. Download and try VKernel's virtual appliance today from <ahref="http://www.vmware.com/vmtn/appliances/directory/scripts/va-stats/appliance-redirect.php?nid=3&target=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.vkernel.com">www.vkernel.com
