JumpBox for MySQL

MySQL is probably the most widely used relational database around. It's used as an integral component in many JumpBoxes and is also useful to have available in an easy to use standalone version. This JumpBox includes MySQL 5 along with PHPMyAdmin setup and ready to run. It's a great tool for developing database backed applications and can also be used along with other JumpBoxes if you need to move the database into a separate virtual machine. Includes MySQL 5 with PhpMyAdmin.

Try this JumpBox

Alfresco is an Open Source Enterprise Content Management (ECM) system that provides features for Document Management, Collaboration, Records Management, Knowledge Management, and Imaging. Alfresco is an extremely powerful system that’s known for being a bit painful to get running. With the JumpBox for Alfresco that’s a non-issue, you just download and run and within a couple minutes you’ll have a production ready Alfresco installation. The JumpBox has Alfresco configured with a MySQL back-end and Tomcat setup as it’s servlet engine making it a solution ready to serve small team production workloads or simply as an evaluation platform before rolling out a larger manual installation. Plus thanks to the built in web administration console and backup system that’s ready and waiting to protect your data, you’ve got one of the easiest document management solutions around. Includes Alfresco 3.0.0.

Try this JumpBox

JumpBox provides very simple to use virtual appliances based around Open Source software. Any JumpBox will run on VMWare as well as Parallels Desktop and Server, Microsoft Virtual PC, Microsoft Virtual Server, Virtual Iron and Xen Open Source. With a JumpBox Open Plus subscription you can also run on Amazon EC2 and the JumpBox Backup System allows you to easily move your installation from a local install to an install anywhere else.

A JumpBox requires one quick step of configuration via a web browser with no need to touch a command line. Each JumpBox also includes a simple web based management interface that includes the JumpBox Backup System. The JumpBox Backup System allows you to export the state of the JumpBox to NFS, Windows File Sharing or Amazon S3 (This provides a really easy offsite backup).

When you log into the application use the user "admin" with the password you provide during initial setup. The distribution also contains a README.txt file that provides a little more detail about usage.

JumpBox appliances are updated on a regular basis with the latest operating system and application fixes.

See RELEASE-NOTES.txt in the download for more detail on recent changes and a list of known issues with this release.

This JumpBox is part of JumpBox Open a growing collection of Virtual Appliances for Open Source software.
Network Storage Server (NSS) Virtual Appliance for VMware Infrastructure

FalconStor® Network Storage Server (NSS) Virtual Appliance for VMware Infrastructure is a pre-configured, production-ready virtual machine that provides a cost-effective, feature-rich virtual SAN solution for small and medium businesses and remote/branch offices.

FalconStor® Network Storage Server (NSS) Virtual Appliance for VMware Infrastructure is a pre-configured, production-ready virtual machine that provides a cost-effective, feature-rich virtual SAN solution for small and medium businesses and remote/branch offices.

The FalconStor NSS Virtual Appliance creates a virtual SAN on a VMware ESX server by turning internal disk resources into a shareable pool of storage. This is accomplished without the need for external storage arrays, SAN switches, or costly host bus adapters (HBA). Internal data drives are detected by the software and incorporated into the FalconStor NSS management through a simple GUI. At that point, storage can be provisioned and securely allocated via the iSCSI protocol which operates over standard Ethernet cabling.

If the FalconStor NSS Virtual Appliance is deployed on a single VMware ESX server, that server can share storage resources with other servers in the environment. By consolidating all the elements of a shared storage environment into a single server, the FalconStor NSS Virtual Appliance provides a cost-effective solution for delivering highly available shared storage to a VMware ESX Server environment. Thin Provisioning technology and space-efficient snapshots further decrease costs by minimizing consumption of physical storage resources.

To enable high availability (HA), the FalconStor NSS Virtual Appliance can be deployed on two VMware ESX servers that can share storage with each other as well as additional VMware ESX servers. In this model, each NSS Virtual Appliance maintains mirrored data from the other server. If one of the servers is lost, all virtual machines that were running on the failed server can restart using the storage resources of the remaining server. Downtime is kept to a minimum as applications are quickly brought back online.

Moodle is a course management system that allows educators to create online learning communities for their students. It has an open design with a large developer community creating plugins, themes and modules. It's used all over the world in environments large and small and is one of the better supported Open Source course management systems. The JumpBox for Moodle is a great way to get up to speed with Moodle and requires a minimal investment in time and money. It's a production ready installation of Moodle and includes the JumpBox management tools and backup system to help make operations as simple as possible. If you've ever wanted to give Moodle a try, the JumpBox is the easiest way to do it. Includes Moodle 1.9.3.

Download this Appliance

This appliance was built from scratch using debootstrap and adding a virtual kernel. Doing it this way leaves you with only the bare essentials which is a perfect base to build a virtual appliance on but with all the ubuntu software ready to be installed!

It has VMware tools installed by adding build-essential and linux-headers and compiling the needed modules. Then the disk was cleaned using apt-get autoremove and stripping the vmware tools directory from the unneeded binaries and 64-bit files (leaving 30MB instead of 150MB).

JumpBox for Ruby on Rails Deployment

One-line Description:

The JumpBox for Ruby On Rails serves as a deployment system for your Rails applications. We understand that developers prefer to use their own tools for developing and deploying their applications, and so our JumpBox for Ruby on Rails politely remains out of your way until you've decided that it's time to deploy your application.

What is the value of deploying your Rails application with a JumpBox appliance? Quite simply, it allows you as the developer to concentrate on your development rather than having to accommodate the potentially infinite number of configuration possibilities that one might otherwise encounter in attempting to distribute Rails applications to end user systems.

As such, you needn't worry about the fact that your users will be hosting your application on a Linux, Mac OS X, or Windows computer. They won't be required to install MySQL to support your application, and for that matter, you needn't care about whether or not they even have Ruby installed... They won't need it because your application will operate within a fully self-contained virtual machine instance.

We feel that the proposition of significantly reducing installation and configuration support issues will be compelling enough of a reason to consider deploying your Rails application with the JumpBox for Ruby on Rails. Now, instead of being required to install Ruby, MySQL, Apache, and a potentially vast array of dependencies, your end user need only install a Virtual Machine platform such as VMWare, Parallels, or Xen. If they so desire, they can also easily host your application in a Cloud Computing environment such as Amazon EC2.

Download this Appliance

Subscribing to JumpBox Open provides a great toolset to help you quickly evaluate, develop and deploy Open Source software.

Network Monitoring

Cacti Network Graphing
Nagios

Content Management

Drupal 5.x
Drupal 6.x
Joomla!
DokuWiki is a simple, clean and easy to use wiki system that allows collaborative editing of a web site. It's focused on creating documentation for developer teams, workgroups and small companies. This JumpBox bundles DokuWiki version 2008.05.05.

Download this Appliance

Subscribing to JumpBox Open provides a great toolset to help you quickly evaluate, develop and deploy Open Source software.

Network Monitoring

Cacti Network Graphing
Nagios

Content Management

Drupal 5.x
Drupal 6.x
Joomla! 1.0.x
Joomla! 1.5.x
TikiWiki
Alfresco
Silverstripe (beta)

Project Management

Trac/Subversion for Software Projects
Redmine for Software Projects
ProjectPier

Software Development/Deployment

LAMP Deployment
Ruby on Rails Deployment (beta)
Google App Engine Development

Trouble Ticketing / Bug Tracking

OTRS
Bugzilla
Mantis

Wiki

<a href="http://www.jumpbox.
